Cornish Adventures

I have been watching Cornwall with Caroline Quentin a programme about Cornwall, 'the sights, smells and stories' I was born in Cornwall and grew up there, so watching this programme make me miss it. I miss the fresh air, beaches, cliffs, sea, the laid back approach to life, and the people.
So I started reminsing and looked at some of the photos I took on my last trip back down there. I thought you might like to take a look ...

If non of these pictures won't want make you want to take a visit, I don't know what will!
Hopefully it won't be long until my next trip. Looking forward to visiting some old haunts off the beaten track(away from the emmets!) and breathing in some Cornish fresh air.

Crafty aims of 2012!

I have been thinking this week of some of the things I want to make this year. I was very busy running upto Christmas with making lots of gifts. Now that they are all made and given, I have started to think of what my aims are to make this year, well the next few months at least!

So as I was given some scrapbooking accesories and I bought some cardstock, alphabet rubber stamps and luggage labels - I want to really get stuck into my scrapbook. I have a few months to catch up on. I ordered the photos this week, so soon I will have nothing to stop me .....

Also I want to ....

• Make a sewing machine cover as my current one is abit tired
• Experiment making some small paper journals
• A skirt ( I haven't made myself clothes for a long time!)
• Make my daughter a colouring and craft box
• Sort out and plan our vegtable patch
• Some more salt dough crafts

And I think that is enough to get me started.

Fabric play cubes

Now that Christmas is over I can write about two fabric play cubes I made for our friends children. I had made one for my daughter a while ago as she learnt how to use a zip very quickly with it, so I thought I would pass on the idea and make some more.

I used some fun fabric, both were for girls. Also buttons, ribbons, zips, made patches and I did some applique. I think they turned out well. I then stuffed it with polyester filling.
You could add a name or numbers. Give it a try!

Thumb Thank you cards

What a way to say thank you then a personalised finger print from us! I wanted to make a quick and easy card that said thank you that was personal to us.
So i painted my husband, daughter and myselfs' thumb and painted them onto paper.
I tour them out and stuck them onto card with 'Thank you' & 'From the Thwaites' A personal touch!

I hope our friends and family like it!

Christmas present

Well its 2012! I have been trying out one of my Christmas presents. Which was a Fiskars shape cutter and templates. I wanted an inexpensive cutter that was easy to use. I did lots of research and this was the one that did the job and was reasonably priced. I also got some templates to use.

You can do lots with it, whether the templates are used or you can use it free hand, to make borders etc. I will be using it for scrapbooking, cards and other bits and bobs.

Meadowgate

I remember watching Kirstie decorating and doing up her Devon home. She based the series on different rooms in the house, filling them with hand crafted projects, antiques and car boot sale bargains. It was inspiring.

A friend then showed me this, Kirstie has put the house to hire for holidays. It is rather expensive, but great to look at to see what she has done. Check it out.

Murder Mystery

Well Christmas is over and its almost the new year. We are celebrating with friends, although one of us is a murderer! We haven't done a murder mystery before so it shall be fun.

The suspects:

Sigmund Froid - The Cold Austrian Psychoanalyst

With clipped beard, glasses, cigar and smart suit, Sigmund

has a wonderfully calm bedside manner, even if he is

obsessed about your dreams and sex life.

Heidi Evidence - Swiss Bank Clerk

A wonderfully beguiling lady with pigtails, freckles and

innocent expression. She is often seen in either her smart

banking suit, or her Swiss national dress.

Ivan Ego - Russian Inventor

Pessimistic and pragmatic to the last, Ivan is reliable and built

to last, even if he does run on vodka.

Dee Sypher - Code Breaker

Secretive and quiet, Dee is a real cloak and dagger sort of a

girl in dark glasses and trench coat.

Herr Cutt - German Barber

Never without his trusty pair of scissors, Herr Cutt is round

but well turned out with a pencil moustache and slicked hair.

Kiki De’Leggs - French Cancan Dancer

Always dressed to show off her fabulous legs Kiki is always

Ra-Ra-ready for anything.
